Basics of Being a Manager

Some people may think that being the big boss is easy, that all a manager does is control a business and tell people what to do.  The reality, though, is that being a manager is not as easy as people think. It takes a lot of strength, both mentally and emotionally. Managers need to handle pressure well, be able to communicate well with their employees and be able to be seen as ‘mentors’.  They are representing the company they work for therefore their actions and demeanor is very important. 

Customers too will request to deal with the manager directly when experiencing a problem with a product or an employee or if they have a complaint about something. Since managers are entrusted with a big responsibility, they have to be careful that their actions or decisions do not cause any harm to the company or its reputation. Everyone has higher expectations of management. Also, managers need to be very knowledgeable of the overall structure of the company, the products or services offered and the company policies.
